Demonstrates using NMR spectroscopy that GHK binds to heparin—a sulfated polysaccharide found in extracellular matrix and mast cells. The binding is mediated by GHK's charged groups interacting with heparin's carboxylate and sulfate groups. Heparin binding may concentrate GHK at sites of tissue injury where heparin is released, helping explain how GHK is retained and activated at wound sites.
