Researchers designed a nanosized therapeutic system (CuO@LL-37/pDNA) that simultaneously addresses the two main barriers to diabetic wound healing: chronic inflammation and impaired stem cell function. The system uses a CuO nanozyme core to neutralize damaging reactive oxygen species while its outer shell, built from the antimicrobial peptide LL-37 and gene-carrying DNA, fights infection and activates epidermal stem cells to accelerate wound closure.
