A study of 200 patients with chronic low back pain found that measurements of spinal and pelvic alignment (sagittal spinopelvic parameters) correlated with both pain severity and disability levels. Average lumbar lordosis was about 37.6 degrees across the group, with slight differences between men and women. The findings support routine measurement of these alignment parameters to guide treatment strategies that address the underlying mechanical causes of low back pain rather than just symptoms.
