Genome mining analysis identifying 287 cathelicidin genes across reptilian orders Testudines and Squamata. Established the first classification system for reptile cathelicidins, identifying six types for each order with evidence of common ancestral lineage. Characterized genomic organization showing genes clustered with variable arrangements.
