Showed that PAD4-mediated citrullination of cathelicidin (CAMP) reduces its protein levels and exacerbates mucosal inflammation in IBD. CAMP-knockout mice developed worse DSS-induced colitis with altered microbiota (70 differentially expressed proteins, 15 altered bacterial families). Elevated arginase-1 metabolites enhanced dendritic cell maturation and Th17 polarization.
