Examined how off-flavor compounds geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol affect immune gene expression in rainbow trout. Geosmin exposure caused dose-dependent downregulation of immune genes in liver, including cathelicidin 1 and 2, cytokines, and T/B cell markers. Findings suggest these common aquatic contaminants may compromise fish immune function.
