Showed that Lactobacillus crispatus increases meningococcal susceptibility to antimicrobial agents including LL-37 through pilus-mediated co-aggregation that interferes with Neisseria meningitidis microcolony formation. Demonstrates how commensal bacteria can enhance host antimicrobial defenses in the nasopharyngeal mucosa.
