Showed that cathelicidins limit intracellular Neospora caninum infection in macrophages. Using bone marrow-derived macrophages from wild-type and cathelicidin-deficient mice, demonstrated that host defense peptides contribute to controlling this cattle abortion-causing parasite through antimicrobial and immunomodulatory mechanisms.
