Pilot study testing LL-37-generated monoosteophils (bone-forming cells derived from LL-37-treated monocytes) for repairing critical-sized calvarial defects in mice. Monoosteophils combined with hydroxyapatite nanoparticles achieved 80% healing. Cell counts as low as 625,000 produced significant repair within 4 weeks, forming bone nodules containing calcium and phosphorus.
