Characterizes intracellular peptides in the central nervous system of a zebrafish 6-hydroxydopamine Parkinson's disease model. Among nine peptides with altered levels in PD zebrafish, one derived from thymosin β4 was identified and validated for potential neuroprotective function. Tests the TB4-derived peptide in in vitro neurotoxicity models and zebrafish behavioral assays. Provides evidence that endogenous TB4-derived intracellular peptides may contribute to PD pathology modulation.
