Investigates whether thymosin β4 regulates thymocyte (T-cell precursor) differentiation by controlling thymic epithelial cell (TEC) cytoskeletal organization and mitochondrial transfer. Tβ4 modulation in TECs affected actin dynamics and the ability of TECs to transfer mitochondria to thymocytes—a recently described mechanism for supporting T-cell development. Tβ4-deficient TECs showed impaired actin polymerization and reduced thymocyte support capacity, resulting in perturbed T-cell differentiation. Links Tβ4's actin-sequestering function to thymus immune function.
