Tests thymosin β4's neuroprotective effects against Aβ-induced toxicity in SH-SY5Y cells (Alzheimer's cell model) via 5-HTR1A/ERK signaling. Tβ4 reduced Aβ-induced apoptosis, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation through activation of the serotonin receptor 5-HTR1A and downstream ERK phosphorylation. 5-HTR1A antagonism abolished Tβ4's neuroprotective effects. Establishes a novel serotonergic mechanism for Tβ4's Alzheimer's neuroprotection—linking the actin-sequestering peptide to serotonin receptor signaling.
