Tests thymosin β4 for protecting brain microvascular endothelial cells from LPS (lipopolysaccharide)-induced blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption—relevant to TBI-associated neuroinflammation. Tβ4 reduced LPS-induced tight junction protein degradation (claudin-5, occludin, ZO-1), decreased inflammatory cytokine secretion, and preserved endothelial monolayer integrity. In TBI mouse models, Tβ4 reduced BBB permeability and brain edema. Establishes Tβ4 as an endothelial remodeling agent protecting BBB integrity in neuroinflammatory states.
