Cross-sectional study examining serum thymosin β4 (sTβ4) levels in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients with malnutrition-inflammation-atherosclerosis (MIA) syndrome. Lower sTβ4 correlated with MIA syndrome components (malnutrition markers, inflammatory markers, atherosclerosis indicators) and worse prognosis. Higher sTβ4 was associated with better cardiovascular outcomes. Proposes sTβ4 as a biomarker of MIA syndrome severity in PD patients and a potential therapeutic target to improve their prognosis.
