Characterizes thymosin proteins (Pa-THYs) from the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana), whose extract is used in traditional Chinese medicine for wound healing and tissue regeneration. Clones, expresses, and purifies recombinant Pa-THYs proteins; cell migration assays demonstrated Pa-THYs promoted wound closure. Provides a molecular basis for the cockroach extract's traditional wound-healing activity and adds arthropod thymosin to the comparative TB4 biology canon—demonstrating that thymosin's wound healing function is deeply conserved across invertebrate phyla.
