Demonstrates thymosin β4 protects hippocampal HT22 neurons from prion protein peptide PrP(106-126)-induced neurotoxicity through autophagy induction and cholinergic signaling enhancement. TB4 increased autophagy flux, promoted clearance of PrP aggregates, and elevated acetylcholine signaling in PrP-treated cells. Provides mechanistic evidence for TB4's neuroprotection in prion neurodegeneration through autophagy-mediated aggregate clearance—complementing TB4's protection of brain endothelial cells from PrP toxicity (PMID 31877278) and demonstrating a neurotrophic signaling enhancement mechanism.
