Uses MALDI imaging mass spectrometry and LC-MS/MS proteomics to identify tumor-associated biomarkers in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), discovering TMSB4X/thymosin β4 as one of the most significantly overexpressed proteins in tumor versus adjacent normal tissue. Validation in HNSCC cell lines and patient samples confirmed high TB4 expression correlated with tumor grade and poor prognosis. Establishes TMSB4X as a proteomics-validated prognostic biomarker for HNSCC—one of the most common cancers worldwide with limited biomarker-guided treatment options.
