Uses the piggyBac (PB) transposon system to generate cashmere goats stably overexpressing thymosin β4 in hair follicles driven by a keratin-associated protein 6.1 (KAP6.1) promoter. TB4-overexpressing goats showed altered cashmere fiber characteristics including modified diameter, curl, and fiber production parameters. Demonstrates hair follicle-specific TB4 overexpression via non-viral transposon delivery—complementing the classical transgenic approach (PMID 31906185) with a potentially more practical genetic engineering method for fiber quality improvement in cashmere breeding.
