Demonstrates thymosin β4 promotes metastasis in hepatoblastoma—the most common malignant liver tumor in children. TB4 was significantly overexpressed in hepatoblastoma versus normal liver; TB4 overexpression induced EMT markers and enhanced invasion and in vivo metastasis. Identifies TB4 as a driver of the metastatic spread that is the principal barrier to curative hepatoblastoma surgery—providing rationale for TB4 inhibition as a strategy to prevent metastasis in this pediatric cancer.
