Uses MALDI imaging mass spectrometry to identify proteomic biomarkers in branch duct intraductal pancreatic mucinous neoplasms (BD-IPMN) across dysplasia grades. Thymosin β4 was identified—alongside ubiquitin—as one of the most discriminating proteins between low-grade and high-grade/malignant IPMNs in situ. Validates TB4 as a MALDI imaging-detected marker for pancreatic cystic neoplasm malignant progression—providing a spatial proteomics tool for distinguishing benign from pre-malignant IPMNs and potentially improving surgical decision-making in pancreatic cyst management.
