Measures thymosin β4 levels in serum and synovial fluid (SF) of 216 knee osteoarthritis patients versus 152 healthy controls, finding significantly elevated TB4 in both compartments correlating with Kellgren-Lawrence radiographic OA severity grade. Higher TB4 predicted worse structural OA progression. Identifies serum and SF TB4 as clinical biomarkers for OA severity—suggesting TB4 is released as cartilage degenerates and potentially contributing to the synovial inflammatory microenvironment, with implications for both OA diagnosis and TB4 as a target in joint disease management.
