Tests thymosin β4 for protection against bleomycin-induced lung injury in C57BL/6 mice. TB4 was previously found elevated in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of scleroderma patients with lung involvement, suggesting endogenous protective induction. Exogenous TB4 treatment significantly reduced bleomycin-induced lung damage, collagen accumulation, and pro-fibrotic gene expression. Provides key murine evidence for TB4 lung protection—informing TB4's applications in pulmonary fibrosis including IPF and scleroderma lung disease—and complementing the Ac-SDKP comparison study (PMID 26098610) and IL-17 mechanism study (PMID 24613476).
