The tripeptide Pinealon (Glu-Asp-Arg) reduced the buildup of damaging reactive oxygen species and cell death in multiple cell types under oxidative stress, and at higher doses it also modified cell cycle progression. The dual action, reducing oxidative damage at lower doses and interacting with the cell genome at higher doses, suggests Pinealon works through more than one mechanism. These combined properties underlie its protective effects on cell viability.
