Compares Selank vs. its parent peptide tuftsin on brain serotonin metabolism in rats with pharmacologically depleted serotonin (PCPA pretreatment). Selank enhanced 5-HT metabolism in the brainstem while tuftsin had the opposite effect in the neocortex. Demonstrates that adding Pro-Gly-Pro to tuftsin's structure meaningfully changes its neurochemical profile, particularly for serotonergic signaling.
