Children with Prader-Willi syndrome showed a blunted growth hormone response to hexarelin, a potent GH-releasing peptide, comparable to their reduced response to standard GHRH. This impairment was even more pronounced than in obese children, who also have dampened GH responses. The findings suggest that Prader-Willi syndrome involves a more fundamental disruption of growth hormone regulation beyond what obesity alone would explain.
