This study used a specific GHRH antagonist to determine whether the growth hormone-releasing peptide GHRP-6 requires endogenous GHRH to work in humans. Blocking GHRH eliminated most of the GH response to GHRP-6, reducing the peak response by over 80%. This demonstrates that GHRP-6 depends heavily on the body's own GHRH signaling to stimulate growth hormone release, rather than acting entirely through an independent mechanism.
