This study explored how somatostatin interacts with hexarelin, a growth hormone-releasing peptide, in healthy men. Somatostatin reduced but could not fully block the GH response to hexarelin, especially when hexarelin was combined with GHRH, which maintained strong GH release even during high-dose somatostatin infusion. The findings reveal a complex interplay between these regulators, showing that hexarelin and GHRH together can powerfully overcome somatostatin's inhibitory effects on growth hormone secretion.
