Nine children with chronic kidney failure were treated with twice-daily sermorelin (GHRH 1-29) injections for three to six months, and five of the nine showed significantly improved growth rates, increasing from 3.8 to 8.0 cm/year. The treatment was effective across different stages of kidney disease including conservative treatment, dialysis, and post-transplant, suggesting sermorelin could be an alternative to growth hormone therapy for growth-impaired children with kidney disease.
