The growth hormone-releasing peptide KP-102 was found to stimulate food intake when injected into the brain of rats, similar to GHRH but through a separate receptor pathway. A GHRH antagonist blocked the feeding effect of GHRH but not KP-102, and when both peptides were given together the feeding effect was amplified, suggesting GH-releasing peptides stimulate appetite through their own distinct central nervous system receptors.
