Scientists found that synthetic GH-releasing peptides GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 stimulate growth hormone secretion from human pituitary tumors through a protein kinase C pathway independent of the GHRH receptor. In tumors with activating gsp mutations that boost cellular signaling, these peptides also increased cAMP production, providing evidence of cross-talk between two key intracellular signaling systems in pituitary cells.
