Continuous infusion of sermorelin (GHRH 1-29) in children with partial growth hormone deficiency produced an initial increase in GH levels, but this effect diminished over three and six months, showing a biphasic pattern. Interestingly, the three children who grew the most were those with the lowest GH levels at the end of the study, and possible causes for this waning effect include antibody formation and receptor desensitization.
