GHRH delivered as a nasal spray was absorbed through the nasal lining (though with only 3-5% bioavailability) and produced growth hormone release comparable to intravenous injection when given at about 50 times the IV dose. Repeated nasal doses did not suppress overnight growth hormone secretion, making intranasal GHRH a promising non-injection alternative worth testing in children with growth hormone deficiency.
