A new growth hormone-releasing peptide (GHRP-1/KP 101) stimulated growth hormone release from sheep pituitary cells in a dose-dependent manner, with effects comparable to the earlier GHRP-6 but less potent than natural GRF. Importantly, a GRF receptor blocker did not affect GHRP-1's activity, confirming that growth hormone-releasing peptides and GRF act through distinct receptor pathways.
