A dose-response study of GHRH in healthy men found that as little as 10 micrograms produced a significant growth hormone peak, while higher doses prolonged the duration of growth hormone elevation without proportionally increasing the peak. Doses below 3 micrograms may be sufficient as a physiologic test of pituitary growth hormone reserve, offering a more sensitive diagnostic tool than the standard 100-microgram dose.
