Hexarelin, a synthetic growth hormone-releasing peptide, was able to stimulate growth hormone secretion in patients on long-term glucocorticoid therapy, even though their response to standard GHRH was blunted. This suggests hexarelin works through a different mechanism than GHRH and may bypass the suppressive effects of excess glucocorticoids on growth hormone release.
