Pineal gland polypeptide factor (epithalamin) and thymus factor both reduced tumor incidence and multiplicity in rats exposed to a transplacental carcinogen, while also prolonging the time before tumors appeared. The protective effect was particularly strong against tumors of the spinal cord, kidneys, and peripheral nervous system, likely due to normalization of hormonal, metabolic, and immunological disruptions caused by the carcinogen.
