Case report of a 59-year-old Hispanic woman on semaglutide for weight loss who developed small bowel obstruction complicated by acute kidney injury requiring hemodialysis. While GI motility effects of GLP-1 RAs are known, small bowel obstruction is a rare serious complication. Documents a severe adverse event beyond the typical nausea/vomiting spectrum—contributing to the pharmacovigilance literature for semaglutide serious GI complications and underscoring the importance of monitoring patients with prior abdominal surgeries or risk factors for ileus during GLP-1 RA therapy.
