Uses leptin-deficient ob/ob mice (which develop severe early-onset obesity in both sexes, unlike the male-biased diet-induced obesity model) to study sex-specific skeletal muscle responses to semaglutide. Female mice were protected from semaglutide-induced lean mass loss while achieving equivalent fat mass reduction versus males. Provides preclinical mechanistic evidence for sex differences in semaglutide's muscle effects—relevant for the clinically important question of whether semaglutide-induced lean mass loss differs between men and women.
