Preclinical study engineering a muscle-targeted nanocomposite (BP-PEG-MOTS-c, 'BM') combining MOTS-c with antioxidant black phosphorus (BP) nanosheets for sarcopenia treatment, demonstrating dual functionality—MOTS-c restoring mitochondrial function and BP reducing oxidative stress—with superior anti-sarcopenia effects versus either component alone in aged mice. Establishes a nanomedicine delivery platform for MOTS-c. Demonstrates the therapeutic potential of nanocomposite MOTS-c delivery for sarcopenia—overcoming MOTS-c's delivery limitations through biomaterial engineering while adding complementary antioxidant function, providing a translational platform for clinical anti-aging muscle therapeutics.
