This study tracked immune cell changes in 169 gastric cancer patients after surgery and found significant drops in T-cells, B-cells, and natural killer cells within the first week. Patients who received thymosin alpha-1 treatment showed significantly less decline in T-cell and B-cell counts, making it a protective factor against post-surgical immune suppression. These findings suggest incorporating thymosin alpha-1 into post-operative care could help patients recover their immune function more quickly after gastric cancer surgery.
