This case report describes a 48-year-old woman with advanced triple-negative breast cancer that had spread to her lungs and stopped responding to multiple treatments. After receiving a combination of targeted radiation, immunotherapy, a growth factor, and thymosin alpha-1 in a clinical trial, her tumors shrank dramatically, including tumors that were not directly targeted by radiation. This suggests the combination treatment triggered a system-wide immune response against the cancer with manageable side effects.
