Laboratory experiments showed that thymosin alpha 1 significantly reduced the inflammatory response of immune cells (macrophages) triggered by bacterial toxins. The peptide normalized inflammatory signaling pathways and cytokine production, particularly IL-1-beta and IL-6, and also reduced markers of cell death, demonstrating its potential as an anti-inflammatory agent in bacterial infections.
