Rat study using intracerebroventricular MOTS-c infusion to examine effects on thyroid axis hormones (TSH, T3, T4) and uncoupling proteins (UCP1, UCP3) in hypothalamus, blood, muscle, and adipose tissue. Investigated whether central MOTS-c signaling modulates thermogenic and thyroid regulatory pathways. Provides the first characterization of central MOTS-c effects on thyroid hormone regulation and uncoupling protein expression—establishing whether hypothalamic MOTS-c signaling coordinates energy balance through thyroid-axis modulation and thermogenesis, relevant for understanding MOTS-c's systemic metabolic regulatory role.
