Children with Turner syndrome showed normal growth hormone responses to sermorelin and normal IGF-II levels, but their spontaneous nighttime growth hormone secretion declined with age and lacked the expected puberty-related increase. These findings suggest the growth hormone system works normally in Turner syndrome but becomes impaired secondarily due to the absence of gonadal hormones that would normally boost growth hormone secretion during puberty.
