This study found that the GHRH antagonist MIA-602 produced anti-anxiety and antidepressant-like effects in mice after four weeks of treatment. The compound reduced brain inflammation and oxidative stress while increasing levels of BDNF, a protein important for brain cell health and new connections, in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. The researchers suggest that GHRH antagonists could be worth investigating as treatments for mood disorders including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
