Research in mouse models showed that thymic function influences breast cancer development and metastasis through two thymus-secreted proteins, PTM-alpha and T-beta-15b1. Silencing the PTM-alpha gene enhanced cancer cell migration and invasion, while its overexpression weakened invasiveness. The study reveals a new connection between thymus health and breast cancer progression, suggesting potential therapeutic directions.
