Thymosin alpha-1 demonstrated beneficial effects beyond the lungs in cystic fibrosis mouse models, restoring gut barrier integrity and immune balance in inflamed intestines. The protective effects also extended to the pancreas and liver, addressing the multi-organ complications of CF that have become more apparent as patients live longer. These findings support thymosin alpha-1 as a potential therapy for the gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreatic symptoms of cystic fibrosis.
