An eight-day continuous subcutaneous infusion of a sermorelin analog in healthy men boosted both the amplitude and frequency of growth hormone pulses without any signs of the pituitary becoming desensitized or running out of growth hormone. Doses of 60-120 ng/kg/min appeared most effective, and the lack of desensitization suggests that long-acting depot formulations of sermorelin analogs could be a practical treatment approach for children with short stature.
