Long-term daily treatment of dairy heifers with recombinant bovine growth hormone suppressed their pituitary's ability to respond to a sermorelin analog, but this impairment was temporary. Within five days of stopping growth hormone treatment, the heifers' growth hormone-releasing response to the sermorelin analog returned to normal levels, indicating no lasting damage to pituitary function.
