This study tested whether the GHRH receptor blocker MIA-602 could reduce lung inflammation and scarring caused by the drug bleomycin in mice. Mice treated with MIA-602 showed less lung inflammation after 14 days and less lung scarring (fibrosis) after 28 days compared to untreated mice. The protective effect appeared to work by suppressing immune cell activity and multiple inflammatory gene pathways, suggesting GHRH receptor blockers could potentially treat lung fibrosis conditions.
